Janet H. Chrispeels, Ed.D.
 

Janet Chrispeels, Professor  Emeritius Education Studies, UCSD, served as the founding UCSD director for the Joint Doctorate in Educational Leadership, offered in collaboration with California State University, San Marcos.

 

In 1993, Janet joined the faculty at the University of California, Santa Barbara.  During her tenure she coordinated the principal preparation program and developed and led the California Center for Effective Schools and the Center for Educational Leadership. These centers worked with multiple shareholders from five school districts to guide them in the process of school and district change.

She coordinated the west coast site of Effective Schools for the 21st Century research project led by Dr. Sam Stringfield, University of Louisville. Janet has served as president of the International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement and authored numerous articles and several books on effective  schools, shared leadership and district and school reform.

She received her BA in political science from Michigan State University in 1996; and MA in political science from San Diego State University (1969); an MS in management from California American University (1983); and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of San Diego (1990).
